St.
Louis Engineering Group
The St. Louis Monsanto/Solutia retired engineers group was
formed in 1997. It currently has 106
members. Luncheon meetings are held on
the fourth Tuesday of each month in a private dining room at Bristol’s
Restaurant, 11801 Olive in Creve Coeur.
During November and December, a single meeting is held on the first
Tuesday in December.
Luncheon cost is $24.00 and includes soup or salad, fish or
chicken, vegetables, biscuits and non-alcoholic drinks. A cash bar is also available. The tip is included in the meal price. No reservations are required. Prior to each luncheon, members are reminded
of the meeting by email.
Meetings begin at 11:00 a.m. with an informal social
gathering. The meal is served at 11:45 a.m. and is over at approximately 1:00
p.m. The purpose of the group is primarily social. Typical monthly attendance
ranges from 30 to 45. The informal structure permits individual to mingle and
renew old friendships.
Oldest group members retired about 1984. The youngest are recently retired and still
working part time at Solutia, Monsanto or for local engineering consulting
firms. Those still working at Solutia
and Monsanto provide interesting insights into the workings of our former
employers.
On
several occasions when issues of common concern have arisen, such as the recent
retiree medical insurance litigation, special committees have been created to
report to the group and to take appropriate action.
All retired Monsanto and Solutia employees are welcome at
the monthly luncheon. For additional
